unable to open XP after upgrade RC2

after installing RC 2 I try to open windwos XP I get this msg.

Paralles desktop is unable to operate. Properly since it can not communicate with one of its drivers. seems that drivers are in consistent with the currently installed version of parallels desktop. To over come this issue,reinstall Parallels desktop & start it by selecting find->Applications->Parallels->Parallels. Please help
I tried reinstalling over RC2 same msg. restarted computer same. If I uninstall will I lose every thing in windows XP? Bigbob

??????? Where would this second mysterious version of Parallels reside?
 
I've done this before. I don't understand OS X all that well having been a windows user for many years (no registry..yeah !). I do notice that it is possible to install several versions of Parrallels at the same time (they are both mounted on the desktop).
