Unable to start Parallels services.

Hi everyone.

I am wanting to use Parallels 14, however when I start it I get "Unable to start Parallels services", I've did what the article said, however in the first step I got this:

ls -dlO /private/tmp
drwxrwxrwt  8 root  wheel  - 256  9 Oct 12:24 /private/tmp

I have no idea what this means, and how to fix it, so can someone please help?

I'm using the newest mac OS and my IMac is a 2017 model.

Things used to run smoothly under macOS High Sierra, but I have the exact same issue since moving to Mojave. My terminal output shows the same permissions as above.

I tried uninstalling, rebooting, then reinstalling as suggested elsewhere on the forum, but no luck.

Any other suggestions on how to solve this?

Execute the command below in terminal and let us know the output. Also, let us know if FileVault is turned ON or OFF.
ls -dlO /Library/StagedExtensions/

My FileVault is switched ON (and this has not been changed recently).

I suggest you follow the steps given below and reinstall Parallels Desktop. If the issue persists, let us know.
1) Reboot in recovery mode using Command+R combination (for more information refer to https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201314).
If FileVault is On, before getting to the Terminal please open Disk Utility, highlight the Macintosh HD volume in the left panel and press the Mount button in the Disk utility menu. You should be prompted for the Mac password, but then the volume would get mounted. Afterwards do the following:
From the Mac menu bar select Disk utility > Quit. Open Utilities > Terminal from Mac top menu and execute the following commands.
2) In the terminal window type : spctl kext-consent add 4C6364ACXT
3) Enable it by typing: spctl kext-consent enable
4) Verify it by typing: spctl kext-consent list
5) Type this command next: chflags -R restricted /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/Library/StagedExtensions/
6) Run First Aid under Disk Utility.
7) Reboot the Mac.

Thanks for your help. I followed the steps and reinstalled Parallels Desktop afterwards. Unfortunately, the issue persists.
As a sanity check, I made sure the changes were applied correctly:

drwxr-xr-x  4 root  wheel  restricted 128 Oct 12 13:04 /Library/StagedExtensions/
$ spctl kext-consent list
Allowed Team Identifiers:
4C6364ACXT

Any idea how to proceed?

Hello SvenL3, In this case we have to uninstall and reinstall the Parallels Desktop application. Kindly go to Finder--> Applications--> Parallels Desktop ( Right click and move it to trash ). Please restart the Mac computer and download Parallels Desktop 12 from this link to install it back.
