Uninstall Parallels from Boot Camp Partition - "

I had a Boot Camp partition and tried to install Parallels on top of it. It created problems with activating my copy of XP and Office 2007, and seems to have messed with some keyboard functionality using the Fn key (page up and page down, etc.) Now I want to uninstall it, but the Parallel Tools uninstall says that I must be running under the VM to unistall. I cannot start up the VM under Leopard to do the uninstall because my XP copy simply shuts down because it is not activated.

I no longer want all the Paralells drivers to try to startup on my BootCamp partition.

How can I find documentation on what registry entries and files to remove since the uninstall will not accomplish it.

I obviously regret trying to put parallels on top of BootCamp, but it does not make sense any other way, and it does not seem to work because of the Windows licensing.

actually, when you run Boot Camp partition via Parallels you have to reactivate your Windows once because it "sees" another hardware configuration. The same may happen with some other software for the same reason but, unfortunately, it is the way of licensing of this software - it is a well-know problem and we are working hard on it, but now we can only advise you to address to company where you purchased software and explain, that you use the same computer with it in that case.

For uninstalling Parallels Tools please try to do the following:
1. Go to "My Computer" - "C" Drive - "Program Files" - "Parallels" folder and delete the "Parallels Tools" folder.
2. Click the Windows "Start" menu -> "Run" and type "regedit". Hit OK.
3. In Registry Editor, go to "My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Parallels" and delete the "Parallels Tools " entry.
4. Reboot Windows.

Thats an oversimplification of the issue with Bootcamp. When you boot directly into windows after running parallels your required to re-activate all the software again.

The copy on the site is misleading in that it gives the impression that you can seamlessly transition back and forth between bootcamp/parallels when thats obviously not the case. Having to re-activate all your software each time you move between the two is something that should be clearly stated to potential customers.

Also there needs to be a cleanup script to uninstall all the product artifacts on both OS. I'm still hunting down files. Overall I'm very disappointed in product. I do believe that it has potential and for many users that just want to run the VM and use office its probably ok. But Bootcamp users should think twice and I would not recommend it at this point.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused.
For resolving Boot camp-Parallels issues, you may set up a hardware profile for Parallels and Boot camp. For more information, please, check this thread.

Anyway, there is a possibility to get a refund. You need to submit a request ticket on our web-site in case you bought the copy of Parallels Desktop online. Otherwise, you should contact your local reseller, which you got your PD copy from.
