Upgrade Finish in Step 2 and Works, But ...

Hi,

I upgrade my vm from paralels 3 to 4, in the upgrade it finish in step 2, so I do it again from by backup, and also stopped in step2, so I arrange the windows so I can put again my user and password instead of the ParallelsHelper0 user, I installed also the parralels tools and everything seem ok, Very slow, but I can work.

My questions are,

1) what else I can do to finish step 3 and 4, are these steps are important?
2) Do you recomend me to work like this? I used for my work
3) I can't install the Internet security, what can I do?

I have a Imac 3.04 with 4 Gig in Ram and I have Parallels 4 build 3540

If you have a backup copy of your version 3 Virtual Machine I would strongly recommend doing the following:

-downgrade to Parallels Desktop 3 (Uninstall Parallels Desktop 4, the install Parallels desktop 3. you can get the latest build of Parallels Desktop 3 here: http://www.parallels.com/download/file/v3/en/GA/Parallels-Desktop-5626-Mac-en.dmg);

-launch your backup Virtual Machine. uninstall Parallels Tools version 3.0, all antivirus software and custom drivers (drivers that were not a part of Windows installation);

-uninstall Parallels desktop 3 per the instructions laid out in the following KB article:

-install Parallels Desktop 4 (please install the latest build, you can get it here: http://download.parallels.com/deskt...tfix1/Parallels-Desktop-4.0.3540.209168.dmg);

-create a custom new Virtual Machine, using your .hdd file as the hdd image file for the new one (start Parallels Desktop 4, select File => New Virtual Machine, click Skip Detection, select the corresponding VM type, select 'Custom', follow the steps of the wizard and, when prompted for Hard Disk options, select 'Existing image file', click 'Continue' and locate your .hdd image file).

If back-ups are unavailable, try re-installing the Parallels Tools (it looks like your woes are caused by a faulty Parallels Tools installation). Go to Start => My Computer => Control Panel => Add/remove programs and uninstall any installations of Parallels Tools you find there. Restart your VM just to be sure, cancel all 'found new hardware' windows and go to Virtual Machine => Install Parallels Tools.
