When a user upgrades from one version of Parallels to a newer version, is the older version still valid for use? That is, if I have Parallels 12 and upgrade to version 13, does version 12 still have a valid license? And can it still be used? Or, in upgrading, is the user losing the license for the previous version?

I have asked this question about other software, and gotten different answers from the sales people. For some products both versions are valid and can be used on different machines. For other products only the new version can be used and the old version license is no longer valid.

My reason for asking, of course, is that I am thinking about installing Parallels on a second machine and, if the old version 12 license is still valid, then I could use that on the second machine and get a new license for it after I decide if I want to keep using that machine. If the old version is no longer valid then I have to decide now if I want to purchase a second license.
