Upgrade to 4 on OSX 10.5.8

I seem to be having a lot of trouble upgrading to 4.0 on OSX 10.5.8 it appears to be stuck on step 2 of 4 (Searching for new devices) virtual machine upgrade process. Has anyone any ideas please?

I gave up with 10.5 I am now on 10.6.1 and I get the same problem ....I have raised a trouble ticket with Parallels but they don't think it is a serious problem !!!!!! so will only look at the problem in 4 days time ..... Not a serious issue ...I cannot use windows on my Mac at all now ... I have no 3.0 and 4.0 will not install ...

I wonder what they regard as a serious issue.
