Upgrading to 4.0

I'm ready to upgrade my 3.0 to the boxed version of 4.0 and want to make sure that none of my applications will be erased. Has that been a problem for anyone?
Also, when upgrading, do you enter your original 3.0 parallels desktop window or insert the disc on the mac desktop?

Hello,

You should stop Parallels Desktop 3 from running and insert the disc to your drive. Then, you should run the installer from there on the Mac side. It should remove Parallels Desktop 3 from your Mac and install Parallels Desktop 4. Some other notes on this:
- Your virtual machines will not be affected during the upgrade. You will have to convert them to run, though. It is recommended to back them up before doing so, you will be prompted about this before conversion.
- Before upgrading, boot with every virtual machine you are planning to convert and disable antiviruses and make sure you shut them down. If you try to upgrade it in suspended mode or with an active antivirus, it may cause issues.
- Converting a virtual machine should not delete any of your applications, but, as mentioned above, a backup is always helpful, and will allow you to recover in the case of an accident.

Why is this in the Linux/Windows forum???

Glad to see the guy got help, but why is this in the Linux/Windows forum? When I saw the thread title I was extremely happy to hear there were v3 and v4 versions finally released, only to have my glee dashed when I read the thread and realized we're talking the (Intel) Mac version of the software instead. :-)

PLEASE get us a new version, even if it's in Beta! Linux people just love Betas
