USB Scanner disconnect by itself,cant allocate more thah 312Mb Ram

hi
1.My scanner-usb is disonnecting when I dont use it for a few houres.I have to disconnect and reconnect it again and it works.

2. I'm not able to allocate more than 312Mb Ram. When I try to put some more, the system told me the max. is 312Mb and if I allocate more, the windows will not start. I have 2GB RAM installed on my iMac 24''.

I'll be happy if somone can help.
