USB to Parallel Port Adapter

Does anyone know if I put a USB to Parallel Port adapter (like this one http://www.keyspan.com/products/usa19hs/ ) on my Mac will Windows runnning under Parallels see it as a COM Port?

I also need an answer to this question. I need to replace a computer that runs a laser engraver via a parallel port. Whether I buy a Mac + Parallels + Windows, or just get a PC, hinges on this question.
