Anyone have any recommendations or success stories with any USB to serial adapter? I have a MacBook Pro and am running Windows XP as my Parallels guest OS. I need to use the USB to Serial adapter in Windows. I am currently trying to use an older iConcepts PDA USB adapter. It is a USB 1.0 device. It seems to get recognized by both OSX and WinXP, but it doesn't seem to work in Windows. The right drivers are installed, and the device is recognized by WinXP and shows up properly in device manager. Thanks Mike
I was able to use Keyspan and Airlink+ serial adapters without aby problems. Also, from what I know - all FTDI-based USB/serial adapters should work. (http://www.ftdichip.com/Products/EvaluationKits/USB-Serial.htm)
I've had pretty good luck with the iogear adapter: http://www.iogear.com/main.php?loc=product&Item=GUC232A Seems to work fine with Windows and there are Mac drivers for intel.
eenest/Rich Thanks for the input. Turns out I found a program that runs on the Mac side of things. I needed this to program my Pronto Pro remote. The Philips Pronto Pro SW only works on Windows, but there is a program that is platform independent called Tonto that works on the Mac. I may still try to pick up one of the brands you guys listed. Thanks again. Mike
