"Use generated MAC address" doesn't.

I'm trying to get my wireless router to assign a unique IP address to my Windows 7 machine running under parallels, but no matter what I do it sends the router the same MAC address for both the host and vm.

In Network Settings, I'm using Bridged > Wi-Fi, with a generated MAC address and the "use generated" setting. The MAC address in the box is never sent to the router. Rather, the one from the host is sent. No amount of double checking and rebooting the VM will convince it to do otherwise.

The end result is that there's no way to configure an IP address for the VM, since the host will connect first using the MAC and grab whatever IP I set, then the VM will connect using the same MAC and get a random one from the pool.

What am I missing? Why is this setting not doing what it says it does?

    Hello JasonK2,
A virtual machine can use three different networking modes to communicate: Bridged, Shared and Host-Only.
Please refer http://kb.parallels.com/4948 to learn more about each networking mode and to assign static IP address to virtual machine follow http://kb.parallels.com/112093
