Having a simple problem to describe. When adding/modifying the CD/DVD-ROM 1 for a given VM the option to use the real CD-ROM is unavailable. The User's Guide specifies that under linux one requires write access to the real device. I have checked this and indeed I can manipulate /dev/scd0 (root:cdrom ug+rwx) since the id I am running parallels under is part of the cdrom group. Additionally tried to start parallels as root (sudo parallels) with no change in the availability of this option. What am I missing? Any pointers are appreciated. Thanks, /mauro

    Found it

I looked in the Workarounds area for likely titles that described my situation and I was able to find this thread. The directions there say to basicaly disable/reenable the device in the configuration editor. That did it!
