using an usb/rs232 converter

Hi, first sorry for my english, i'll try to explain my troubles the best i can...!
Well i have a brand new mac book pro (os 10.5) 4GB of ram 2.6 g proc. 160 hdd, parallels 3.0 (5584), a motu firewire sound card than i run under mac os with smaart and fuzmeasure, and, an usb/rs232 serial converter. this converter is connected to external hardware (XTA controllers wich are sound processors, used all around the world by thousands of sound enginners!!). This hardware is controlled via audiocore software wich run exclusively under windows.
I first installed a boot camp partition: my converter works fine when i run in boot camp native.
Then, in parallels, i use my boot camp partition as a VM. I installed a few softwares, i use a dongle for a software sometimes (soundvision), my usb key works fine BUT not my converter under parallels! drivers are installed, when i plugit in guest os i can see its presence into usb icon (tick on usb-serial controler). Under windows all is ok ( com ports and parameters...) but it looks like if no data go through this converter.
I checked everything under boot camp partition by adjusting the right settings for it.
So now, i am supposed to boot under windows if i want to use my converter to control my hardware, and to reboot under mac os alternatively..... boring....!!!
Can you help me ?
 
i forgot to say one very important thing: In live shows: concerts, theatres even in studios everybody uses a window laptop to control xta hardware with an usb/232 converter like mine... It stil don't work in parallels. Be sure that if you help me i'd proud to say to all xta users it works and they can control an XTA with a mac!!
 
Hi Steevest, i run the same setup as you do, several xst's on a mac
First of all, but you probably found out already, getting the xta's to work under codeweavers crossover for mac is quite hassle. So the next best thing is to run it under a VM like parallels or the other brand you know.
In order to make sure mac osx doesn't posess the USB to serial dongle, one has to make sure no usb serial drivers are installead under osx. To uninstall them find them in system/library/extension and drag them to the bin. BE VERY CAREFULL not to delete any other than you serial drivers as you might find yourself reinstalling osx!
