Variable time-Lapse facility for Record area/window/screen.

A variable time-lapse facility for Record Area/Window/Screen. I use a robot astronomy telescope on-line to view the Sun. I want to record what is happening over an extended period of time, but I only need to record what is happening as a series of snapshots every 10 seconds or so, rather than continuously. A time-lapse feature would also be useful for people continually monitoring other things remotely, such as their property.
