Version 3 -> 4 Disk size

Since installing version 4 and converting a WinXP dataset to V4 the file has grown by one gigabyte. Original size 9.5 gigs increased to 10.6 gigs. Does version 4 have more overheads within the WinXP file or does the file have to be compressed?
 
It is hard to say for sure, but most probably the size increase has been caused by the new version of Parallels Tools taking up more space, Parallels Internet Security been installed and generally increased VM requirements regarding disk space. I would not recommend running the compressor application at this time, for the gains will most likely be minimal.
