After changing my administrator password on Vista I get an error: "The user name or password is incorrect" on starting the VM. I guess I have to change the password somewhere in Parallels, but I can't work out where.
I too am waiting for this solution. I am assuming parallels enters it for you but where do you change it?????
No Boot Camp... I just used "Create an Express VM..." option. I guess that Parallels starts the VM then logs in as Administrator. I would express a setting somewhere in Parallels, but I ain't found it.
Hmm.. I don't understand where is the problem. When you install Vista in Express mode Parallels Desktop creates blank password for your Vista administrator account. You can change it easily.
OK. Here is the way to fix this problem: 1. Run your Vista VM. 2. Click on Start button. 3. In search field type "control userpasswords2" without quotes and press Enter. 4. In appeared window enable "Users must enter a user name and password..." option.
You want to type that in the "RUN" space not the search space. Been looking for that in vista for days. Thanks.
User name and password error after upgrade I upgraded form Parallels 3 to 4 and now receive this error when I try to log into Windows Vista. I did not change the administrator password and the account still exists. Indeed, after several attempts to log in, the password reminder pops up just as it used to and it is the same. But when I enter the password, which I know to be correct, it it not accepted. I have tried typing the password using my mouse and an onscreen keyboard, in case there was a problem with my keyboard, but the keyboard works fine in Mac OS. Any advice you have would be much appreciated. I cannot get into Windows at the moment and it is urgent that I be able to ASAP. Thanks.
