I am running Parallels 3170, and have found that the virtual HDD drive icon in my Vista virtual folder has disappeared! When I try to launch Vista, this is confirmed and the Parallels startup errors out. All of the other files remain. I also have a Fedora installation, and run Bootcamp with Parallels without difficulty.

Can I salvage the Vista installation? Is it possible to cobble a virtual HDD into the folder where the rest of my Vista installation is happily residing and ran quite well last week?

I don't have any critical data, but the chore of running a new XP installation, then loading my upgrade Vista install on top of it sounds like several hours I would prefer not to have to invest.

I guess another route would be to try to use Parallels Transporter to copy my Bootcamp XP installation and then upgrade the copy to Vista. I haven't seen any documentation on useing Transporter with Bootcamp as the source installation, though. I don't know if it works.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Running a MacBook Pro, 2 Gb RAM, 160gbHd, OSX 10.4.8, Parallels 3170
