VM stuck "suspending"

Parallels 6 with a VM running Win XP.

The PVM was minimized, and I thought it was suspended. So i clicked the power button on PVM control panel.

Then I remembered it was minimized, so I restored it to the desktop. But it was already in the process of suspending.

It just hung there. I had to use "Force Quit" to shut it down after a while.

Now when I try to start it, it's permanently stuck in the "Suspending" state.

How can I get it past this point?

As an aside, most Mac software does not act on a mouse click if the window does not have focus; instead, the window gets focus and the mouse click is ignored. However, the PVM panel does NOT discard the mouse click.

If a VM is running and minimized, or just if it's running period, it would be nice to have the PVM panel put up dialog confirming you want to suspend it. Or perhaps a sub-menu that offers different options, like:

- Suspend
- Power Off
- Resume
- whatever

I get worried clicking on the PVM panel because I'm never sure what's going to happen. Especially when a lot of the left side is obscured beneath another window.

If it does not have focus, it should act like all other Mac software and ignore the mouse click and just grab focus.

Is there any way to run a boot-time CHKDSK on a VM that didn't get shut down properly?

The VM is clearly stuck in an inconsistent state. So is the Desktop. From what I can tell, there's no way to fix either one of them.

What the heck am I supposed to do with this mess?

This is a terrific way to encourage people to stick with your products -- just ignore them when your software hoses up their VMs.

There's a lot more support on the VMWare forum. I think I'll "upgrade" in that direction.
