Maybe I'm missing something here, but none of the threads I've read regarding migrating a Windows VM to Bootcamp have discussed simply using the Windows XP Backup utility. Is there some reason it's not as simple as backing up your VM and then restoring it in Bootcamp? I haven't embarked on my Bootcamp adventure yet and that seems to be the obvious starting point to me. It's just that it's so obvious there must be some reason it doesn't work since it's not even discussed.

i may be wrong, but as far as I understood your message, you're asking about the possibility to transfer a VM into a bootcamp. Technically, I suppose, it is possible for an advanced user, though it sure would be complicated. But Parallels doesn't officially support this operation. So, unfortunately, we don't have some reliable recommendations for that as such requests are quite rare.

Consider using Acronis TrueImage.
Alicia: I'm not looking for a direct transfer. I understand that doesn't exist. There's some discussion on the forum about various ways to move from the VM to Bootcamp. True Image, as Eru suggests, is one way of the ways that was discussed. My question is whether or not anyone has tried doing it by using the Backup program included with WinXP and then doing a System Restore to the Bootcamp partition. It seems like that would be obvious solution, but it has zero discussion on the forum, so I'm curious if anyone has actually tried. I guess what it really boils down to is "will the WinXP System Restore work on a Bootcamp partition?"
Eru: I'd swear I read a thread or two about True Image not "seeing" the Bootcamp partition, so I was trying to dumb it down even more. I took another look today and can't seem to come up with a thread reference. Although I do happen to have a license for True Image v9, so I may end up doing that anyway. Then again I may just get real lazy and decide to stick with the VM and continue to ignore the existence of Bootcamp. It's not like the speed is hurting me, it's just that my corporate VPN is a bit flaky with it for some reason.

Give Acronis a try, I have heard of people getting it to work.
Another option is to reverse the transportation that others do... Get the disk image, get rid of your snapshots (back-up everything before doing anything.
) and then the image is actually a .iso or .dmg, I forget which off the top of my head, but get it mountable, and readable by Windows if need be, and use the approach that you were taling about.
