VPN Connection in XP

Hi - while using the Parallels trial, I was able to easily connect to my works VPN server through the Parallels BootCamp partition. It is running Windows XP Service Pack 3.
I purchased the license today for Parallels (only change I've made since the last time the VPN connection worked), and now I consistently get a 721 error when attempting to connect. Keep retrying - no connection.

I checked with our Admin at work and he says VPN is up and running on their end. I reset my router. Nothing - still getting an error. Internet connection works just fine in XP - just can't connect to the VPN (using built in XP VPN client).

Any help would be greatly appreciated before I get fired for not being able to work from home when I'm working from home

The most common cause for this is that a firewall or router between the VPN server and the VPN client is not configured to allow Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) packets (protocol 47). Verify that the firewalls and routers between your VPN server and the Internet allow GRE packets. Check the router settings and make sure TCP Port 1723, IP Protocol 47 (GRE) are opened. Also make sure that the router has the PPTP enabled and not firewall block the traffic.

It is usually recommended to have Shared networking mode set for your virtual Windows. Please, revise your VM configuration. The license key is nothing to do with VPN

Thanks for the info - most of it went over my head After googling the issue, I found a post on another site where someone was having the same issue. They basically restarted their Mac and it worked. I had tried restarting the XP a couple of times with no luck, but had not resarted the Mac. I did - and got in with no problems.
I have no idea why - but at least it works Thanks again.
