   It says a total of $99.99 a year, but says it can be paid $8.99 a month, but wont give me the option to make the payment monthly at checkout. Im skeptical about clicking buy for it to take $99.99 instead of $8.99.

   The monthly fee you see is just the split of the yearly subscription which is 99.99$/yr. The amount you will be paying is 99.99$ each year for the subscription.
