I have used both VMWare and Parallels for years (since Virtual PC times). I recently was reading the Apple Developer pages on MacOS VM services. The sample code builds and runs Ubuntu and OpenSUSE just fine. So why pay any money to either VMWare (for Fusion) or Parallels (for desktop pro)? I see no added value in either. I am going to have to renew my license in September so this is more than an academic discussion for me. The business models of both products depend on unique software I am willing to spend money on. If I don't throw money at them then both Fusion and Parallels Desktop will wither on the vine. Anyone else have an opinion or thought or should I just move on down the road and use the code from Apple?
