Folks,

I have installed 2x Application server 5.0 build 275 on a virtual machine running Windows XP SP2, and trying to get some published applications out of it.

I have tried notepad, excel, and cygwin with no luck :(

The problem is that when I run the client like this:

appserverclient -s XX.XX.XX.XX -u fidot -p 'superpass' -a 'notepad' -o 3 -m 2G

I get a full remote desktop, and not the application running....

This is what I see in logs:

Sat Aug 18 00:30:51 2007 - User fidot, Client fidotlt, Address 10.21.21.33 tunneled to localhost:3389 and started Application "notepad"
Sat Aug 18 00:30:56 2007 - 0 fidot 10.21.21.33 RDP Active Desktop localhost

I have appserverclient version 4.3.2083 for Linux, and also tried 5.2.3790.1830 (40) client for Windows - same behavior. I always see the full remote desktop.

I have found this topic:
http://www.2x.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1146

where the problem describes is *exactly* like mine. Call me an idiot, but I can't find 'Dont let launch applications and always show the desktop' option in the Environment tab, as [VCR] was describing.

Does anybody know how to fix this?

PS: I know that 2X doesn't support WinXP-SP2, but some ppl have success running the setup im trying to build:

Is Possible to publish applications on Win XP Pro

I have tested 2X ApplicationServer on ThinServer XP (a Win XP Pro based terminal server ), it does application publishing quite OK

However I can either get a full desktop or published applications. Then again I did not test it with the latest 2X apps server and with latest ThinServer XP

Thinserver XP is at :- www.aikotech.com/thinserver.htm

Hi,

I also have the same problem. I install 2X Application Server in Win XP Professional SP2 (in Vmware) and try to access published applications from Fedora 7.

Any solution yet ?

Regards,

Setya

2X ApplicationServer is designed for windows 2000/2003 server with Terminal Services

XP is not designed to publish applications which is why you only get a desktop.

XP does publish apps

You can publish apps with XP Pro

I have tested the latest version of 2X Apps server ( 5.1 ) with the latest version of ThinServer XP and it works very well

Infact all through out the testing, ThinServer XP work just like a regular terminal server

Re: When launching applications, I see remote desktop instea

Fidot,

I have the same problem. I run the application server on Windows 2000 Server. I can access the desktop, but none of the apps I published work. When the app icon is clicked a square window shows up. It apparently contains a piece of the desktop, but nothing else. The windows cannot be resized. It is really weird...

There must be a fix for this. Apparently hundreds of users tested it and everybody seems to be happy, so what's wrong?

Enso
