When to choose "Default Adapter"

Hello there,

My "Network Adapter 1" WAS originally set with "Shared Networking", the Windows networking was running fine until a few times of restarting the Mac overnight. Although the Windows networking was NOT working, the Mac networking was still working fine. Using ipconfig /all show no legitimate IP address...

However, switching to "Default Adapter" instead of "Shared Newtworking" from the "Network Adapter 1", the Windows networking finally worked !!! If it switched back to use "Shared Newtworking" it then FAILED again! Any idea ?

Could you please post what is the version (3.0 or 4.0) are you using?
I know almost nothing about 3.0, but in Parallels Desktop 4.0 there should not be such behaviour

from Terminal in mac OS

from Start -run -type cmd
in Windows command console type
