S stormj Member Oct 13, 2006 #3 I dealt with this problem myself. It's actually not that hard. Run the XP hdd image in a Vista VM. Reinstall XP over the old install, and it will include an ACPI hal. (check in device manager.) Then run the vista upgrader.
