?: which USB-to-IrDA adapter to buy

Hi,

in order to get my Polar HRM wristwatch computer to work with my iNTEL-iMAC I need to purchase an IrDA-adapter. Does anyone give me a recommendation for such an adapter which works already, or will most likely work with parallels?

The Polar HRM will not work with the Mac built-in IrDA or with the Polar USB IR interface.

You will need to get a Polar serial IR adapter and connect it to the machine with a "USB to serial" device. Keyspan USA-19HS is known to work.
 
I have this issue, too. The Polar USB interface does not work.

My solution is to quit exercising until Parallels brings out USB support!

I am concerned whether the Polar USB interface will ever work. For one thing, it is USB 1.1, which is already supposed to be supported. Also, OS/X does not recognize the device, which probably makes it harder for it to know how to handle it.
 
I have a BAFO USB to IRDA adapter that can be selected from the menu in the Parallels USB icon. XP automatically detects it as a an IrDA/USB Bridge and installs the drivers for it from it's own database. i.e. I didn't have to install any drivers. I don't have much use for IrDA at the moment but it properly detects my old Nokia 6360 cell phone when it is in range of the adapter.
