Which Windows Version

Hi, I'm new to Parallels and just want a recommendation of which version of Windows to install on my Mac.
I have no Windows machines any more and just want a reliable platform to run some basic Windows programs.
Should I just buy and install Windows 10 or is an earlier version a better bet? Thanks.
