Win 7 Boot Camp VM Boots SO SLOOOW

Hi guys.

I have installed Win 7 to a Boot Camp partition on my iMac 28" with a core i7 Processor, 4GB of RAM, and 1TB HDD. I alotted 250GB for the Win 7 install. I got the early crash from the Win 7 install because the iMac didnt like the generic video driver the install was trying to use initially. I followed some forums and repaired the install, deleting the old ATI driver from my Win32 folder on the Windows Install partition. Then Win7 completed installation flawlessly, and then booted. I installed updates, and later installed the windows 7 Apple Tools that were released by Apple recently. I alotted 2GB for the MAc and 2GB for the Win 7 Install.

Have Parallels 5 v.9308 and used the Boot camp install to create the virtual machine. Worked ok, but the thing takes FOREVER to boot. like 4 mins at least. Is this expected?

Should I be doing something different?

Any help is appreciated....
 
Try reducing the memory assigned to the VM to 1 GB. I recently read in an excellent mactech.com report comparing Fusion 3 with Parallels 5 that the more memory you assign to a VM, the longer it'll take to boot - that seems to be a fact of life for virtual machines. You may also want to update to Parallels build 9310.
 
try eject the bootcamp drive in Finder first, it's actually a problem between Parallels and Spotlight.
