Hi: When I run an application in windows 7 under elevated priority, the application does not show up when I press cmd +tab. To repro: Start VM in coherence mode Right click the parallels icon in the menu bar across the top to bring up the Windows Start menu Shift+Right click an application (such as IE) in the start menu and choose 'Run As Administrator' Windows will prompt as to whether or not you want the application to make changes to Windows, click yes. Application starts. Now, when you Cmd+Tab, IE will not show up as any of the applications that OSX cycles through. Close IE Right click the parallels icon again This time, do a normal (left click) of the application you opened above (we'll use IE for consistency) Windows opens the application as normal When you Cmd+Tab, IE shows up as an application chose that OSX cycles through. This happens for any application that is run with elevated permissions in Windows 7 while running in coherence mode. I can get to those applications by having a windows application in the focus and then using the windows equivalent to cmd+tab: alt+tab, but this is a hinderance and not very useful for me when I have several applications open in Windows 7 that must be opened under elevated permissions. Is there a work around? Is there a magic bit I can flip in Parallels Desktop 6 that will force these applications to be there in addition to the applications I ran under my normal windows privileges?
This is the same issue as: http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=103860 I don't know how to fix it.
Same Problem Hi, I have created an ticket for exactly the same problem. Even worse, If you have your windows application shared with mac, then the dockIcon is not shown either. so it seems that windows is prohibiting something that parralells cannot show these items. Under coherence you can right click your coherence (where you can directly go to startmenu) and then select the right frame. This option does not work under crystal though.
Issue resolved Hi, If you want to see the elevated started programs in your dock and switchlist, I found one solution you can do. Disable the UAC from windows. This windows feature prevents parallels from accessing the elevated programs. I tried it and since then disabled my UAC, I see all my programs in dock and switchlist.
Martjin: your resolution dealing with UAC worked great for me. Since I am using the machine for development, this setting works perfectly for me. Thanks!
Same issue I have the same problem and disabling UAC is not an acceptable "fix". UAC is a security feature and Parallels should be able to work around it as other modern applications do. I should not have to leave my VM in a less secure state, and for that matter, I can't. This is a work computer with a GPO applied that requires UAC to be turned on. I need to be able to see my MMC admin console in the CMD-tab list without disabling UAC. If anyone has any ideas it'd be greatly appreciated.
