Windows 7 file modification

Hello Parallels,

I need to change file "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" in guest Windows 7 (installed under PD 5) to add there some custom IPs with my sites, but I can not do it even with the Administrator account - popup message says that I do not have necessary permissions! I have checked my Administrator account (and it has Full Control effective permissions for the file). It seems that PD 5 broke file system somehow! Does anyone have some solutions for it?

I seem to be having the same trouble, Windows 7 Pro on PD 4 for Mac latest build (4.0.3848). (there's a PD 5?)

My account has Administrator privileges, and when editing a text file in a Program Files sub-folder, I can't save changes, from NotePad on the Windows side ("Access is denied") or TextEdit on the Mac side ("file is locked", "you don't have permission to access it"). Effective privileges for the file were all checked for my username.

Thinking that I was seeing this problem:

... I even took ownership of the file and its containing folder, ensured they are both *not* Read-only (but the Properties for the folder still reports Read-only with a blue box, not grey): same failure

Thinking I had this Parallels problem:

... I turned off Shared Profile and Shared Folders and still, I cannot save that text file after editing.

I had used Windows 7 Ultimate RC before this, and it all worked quite well (I would have noticed this problem).

(and this meant clicking Edit.., then in Permissions for <foldername> clicking Add... to add my user name to the list, and giving it Full control)

Hope this helps someone else. It still seems rather silly.
