Windows 7 OEM - can it be used with Parallels?

Trying to decide whether it's worth for me upgrading to Parallels 5 and Windows 7. I was wondering if anyone installed the OEM version of Windows 7 under Parallels. If so, have you experienced any issues with activation, Windows updates, Windows Security Essentials, etc.?

Windows 7 OEM / File Share issues

Yes. Installed to create a 64 bit Windows 7 VM and migrated my programs and other User settings from my Vista VM using PC Mover. All worked well except...

File sharing does not seem to be operating completely. Using the Config panel and File Sharing options you can designate which folders you will "see" from the Windows side, which works well. However, I can't get the file to open in their respective Windows apps - either from Explorer, the applications themselves, or from the Mac side "Open With" command. It comes up with a "file cannot be read error" suggesting that either another app using the file, or that there is a permissions issue.

Otherwise, it's brilliant!

Hopefully a Parallels Support Team member will read this and offer some suggestions to solve the File Sharing problem and we're off to the races.
 
Windows 7 Ultimate OEM 32-bit installs just fine

FWIW, I just installed a System Builder image of Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit version, under Parallels Desktop for Mac 5 and it works just fine so far. I'm running it on an original MacBook Pro that has just the Core Duo processor, so I can only do 32-bit anyway. One thing that I notice is that, if you have more than one core allocated to the VM, then the screen will flash when Aero is operating because the Windows Explorer resets intermittently. If you have only 1 core allocated to the VM, then things seem to run just fine. I notice the same problem when running both Windows Vista and Windows 7 RC under the Parallels 5 beta evaluation. Also, the newer Macs may not behave this way because their WDDM drivers will be different.
 
Thanks for the tips. Seems to be consistent with other comments re: allocation of processors. Am just trying to reinstall the Parallels Tools to see if I can deal with the File Sharing issues. Cheers, GVH
