Windows 8.1 VM won't start

I got my iMac yesterday and purchased parallels to be able to run my windows applications on the mac. I used the the transfer method for creating the VM but each time I try to start the Windows 8.1 VM it sits for ages saying :
Upgrading windows 8.1
Preparing to configure your virtual machine
The screen then changes to say 'preparing automatic repair' and asking me to log in but I cannot see how to go any further.
Please help.

This issue occurs if Migration from Windows PC was not done properly either over Network or External Storage. We suggest you to follow the instructions given on this link kb.parallels.com/113269 before initiating Migration from Windows PC.
