    Hi,

I've just purchased Parallels and I'm hoping someone can help.

I am wanting to install Windows 8 Pro onto my MacBook Pro Retina. I have the official installation disks and product key but my Mac doesn't have a disc drive.

I was wondering if it was possible to install the Windows 8 Preview version through Parallels and then upgrade with my Pro product key? Will that work? Or will I need to install a version of Windows 7 first then upgrade using my product key?

I hope someone has had a similar experience and managed to solve it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Josh

    Hi,

One of the options is to find another Mac with CD-ROM for about half an hour (probably your friends/colleagues have it?) and create the ISO image of your Windows CD: http://kb.parallels.com/4917
Then you'll need to copy this image to your Mac and create a VM based on it: http://kb.parallels.com/8638

As an alternative you may want to try to download Windows ISO image directly from Microsoft website (make sure the version and edition are the same as on CD) and try to activate with your key. Using this method will depend on if your key is "tied" to your CD or not.
