Windows always logs in to the default Admin account

I am having a problem with my Windows XP install that I can't seem to solve. No matter what settings I configure in Windows every time I start up WinXP in Parallels it automatically logs in to the default Admin account.

I'm no Windows neophyte and I know how to set this up to not happen. But when I'm using Parallels nothing works. I do NOT want windows doing this. I want it to either automatically login to my account, nor not auto login at all.

Any suggestions as to how I can stop this irritating behavior will be greatly appreciated.

when in Windows admin
look for some check box about defaults
or
possibly create a new user (eg for a child guest with no privileges) to force a chose user dialog

Yeah, I've done that. That's why this is such a puzzle to me.

I have created an additional admin-lvl account that I want Windows to login to by default, instead of the default admin account that is created when Windows is first installed. But none of the normal options work. No matter how many accounts I create, or what options I change Windows still automatically logs in to the default account every time.

Has no one come across this problem before? Or does no one know how to solve it? Am I just going to have to put up with this stupid, irritating Windows behavior?

I'm having the same problem and is driving me crazy, too. I'm not that proficient at Windows but thought I had it setup correctly to get the welcome screen at startup.

This was never a problem in Virtual PC or earlier versions of Parallels I've used. Seems like a fundamental setup and is surprising it is an issue.

Hope it gets resolved soon or someone can point out whatever I may be missing.

Good find. It's just like Microsoft to hide that frakkin' setting where it isn't easily accessible. Makes me glad I don't have to use Windows as my primary OS.

Now I just need to get a handle on why the main Admin account no longer shows up on log out. It probably has something to do with groups but I'll check into that later. At least it's the welcome screen is back.

My mistake thinking it might be a Parallels issue. Still not sure it just worked before but, oh well.

I, too, feel the same way... so glad Windows is not my primary OS.
