windows explorer freezes with external hard drives and ssd larger than 2TB

recently, windows explorer freezes when i click through the folder structure of external hard drives and ssd. strangely, only with the 4-tb devices, not with those with 2-tb.

configuration: macos 11.7.1, parallels desktop 18.0.3, Windows 10 Pro 22H2

who has an idea what this could be and how it can be solved?
 
today the problem occurred with a 2 tb hard disk (more precisely: ssd). during backup.

interestingly, the problem occurred several times when the hard drive was connected to the macbook itself (via usb-c), but NOT when it was connected via usb-a to an usb-hub that is connected to the macbook via a dock.

does this mean anything to you?
