I have been using Windows for a long time now and only recently switched to Mac. I have an External Hard Drive which I used to store my files on my Windows computer, although it is not compatible on a Mac. It is a Buffalo DriveStation HD-HBU2. I recently bought Parallels Desktop and tried connecting it while running Windows, but it does not appear in My Computer or Device Manager. I also downloaded Boot Camp and tried it, but it still doesn't appear.

    Any Help ?

Having the same issue. Mac OS sees the drive - how do I get guest OS Windows XP to see it?

    Hello folks
What build of parallels are you using?

I had a same issue. Here is what I did to make this happen.

Start Parallels. Eject the hard disk or flash drive from Mac so that Mac doesn't see it.

Go to Parallels menu (devices/USB) and turn on the external drive or flash drive. Hopefully you will see your external disk within your VM.

That will work if the drive is USB. If your drive is a firewire drive, go to the main Parallels taskbar menu, edit the VM (with the VM off) then add your firewire drive to the list of shared folders.

    Then start the VM.

I did that and my LaCie firewire drive is completely accessible from within my VM and my OS X desktop - at the same time.

(I am using PD 2.5 build 3214. Don't know whether this was disabled in v3.0.)

Some in this forum have stated Parallels does not support firewire. That is not true as far as my external firewire drive is concerned.

I am having the same problem. When I use my 1 GB Kingston DataTraveler USB stick, everything works fine. However, I also have a 100 GB external USB hard disk that does not seem to work. I can access the 100 GB drive fine from Mac OS X (Running 10.4.10), and I did not have any problem accessing the 100 GB drive from Parallels 2.5 Build 3214. But now that I have upgraded to Parallels 3.0 Build 4128, the 100 GB drive is inaccessible.

Also, of note, the Windows XP Guest is recording the following errors in the System Event log when I try to connect the 100 GB drive. I must disconnect the 100 GB drive to even launch the Computer Management MMC snap-in, however:

    Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: Disk
