Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit to Win 7 Home 64bit

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit on Parallels Desktop 6 and I am having trouble upgrading this to Win 7 Home Premium 64bit using an family pack upgrade. Is there something special that I have to do to since the normal installation procedure is not working.
