Windows XP activation TWICE in one day??

My experience with Mac computers is exactly 6 hours.

I've installed and activated a brand new copy of XP Professional in Boot Camp.

I've now installed Parallels Desktop and clicked on the Boot Camp installation to make a VM.

Now the VM has loaded Parallels Tools etc its now saying the configuration has changed and the copy of XP has to be activated again.

Is this normal and can anyone suggest what comes next. Everything software/hardware is kosher but this is looking like I am going to need another Key is this true?

Yes that's the problem and a written solution. Thanks for pointing me to it.

My learning curve is so steep it's scary so I'll probably leave this a day or so. It took all my time to try and find how to access the settings mentioned. Finally managed it and made the settings adjustment.

I just need to restart the VM in OSX and go through activation again - will this now be my Boot Camp activation because surely having made the adjustments of Boot Camp and Parallels hardware profiles, both now point towards the Boot Camp installation which has been activated already.
 
Gave up with Boot Camp/Parallels

I ended up in a perpetual cycle of VM saying I needed to Activate - then apparently behaving normally.

I didn't realise that I could load Win XP WITHOUT Boot Camp - RTFM. So I have binned Boot Camp for an installation of XP straight into Parallels Desktop which seems to be running as quickly as XP Pro on my Acer Travelmate 8210.

It allows me to run the windows stuff I need most adequately. The ability to run the two systems 'together' is awesome and I'm trying to get my head around the whole concept.

I have used Macs since about 1988

but when I returned to the Intel Mac after 5 or 6 years with windows (i had wanted to use Dragon Voice recognition software) it toook 3 or 4 months to learn the new finesses of the OS and and remember all the standard keyboard short cuts

I read them in SeaMonkey news ( a great freebie with a WYSIWYG html editor too)

I still prefer MS Basic Optical mouse (3 button + wheel ) and old keyboards (PS/2 with a newer PS to USB adapter) so I use them with my MacBookPro which makes life easier inWinXP too

Thanks Hugh for the welcome.

I KNOW it's the correct decision to go to Mac but I DO miss the 'Home' key in Safari (not there) and also the ability to delete the character to the right of the cursor (I don't know if it can be done but at this moment in time it's irritating.)

Now the XP VM is up and running it's really good - it 'boots' from scratch in 40 seconds, rather than the 3 minutes my Acer takes.

So . . . the learning curve remains steep - but enjoyable.
