WIndows XP Guest + VPN Issue

Hello

I have the following setup and issue:

Mac OS-X 10.5, on a MacBook Air
Parallels Desktop V. 3188

Has anyone had this issue where If you do not start the VPN client before you start the Parallels guest XP the mapped drives will not connect, even after the VPN is connected?

It seems that you have to Start and connect the VPN then restart the Windows to be able to connect to those network drives.

Has anyone seen a workaround or is that really the only solution
