Windows XP now takes ages to start

All used to work fine with Parallel's Desktop.
All of a sudden and constantly for 3 months now, Windows takes 5-10 minutes to start if stopped completely.
When started all work just fine.

I did not see much in this issue.
I'm using Parallel's 7.

Any hint where to start from ?

Try to find any newly installed antivirus or check for viruses. some antiviruses may slow down Windows performance dramatically.
 
Solved

I have solved my issue updating Kaspersky (the one provided in the Paralle'ls tools) version 2009 to version 2012.

The 2009 version was not updating the antivirus list for couple of weeks so I had to do it anyway.


This new install of Kaspersky cleared my problem what ever it was.

So you were right, it had something to do with the anti virus.
