Gee Whiz, Parallels and Ubuntu are throwing me for a loop!

I installed Ubuntu as guest on my Parallels Desktop (Windows XP is host) and I'm trying to get internet access. I don't have access to ethernet for the time being. My only internet source is hotspots (public library, starbucks, etc.). So I need some help setting Ubuntu up for wireless internet. Could somebody take me step by step through the process? (FYI: I've spent a heck of a lot of time reading forums and howtos and troubleshooting guides, but I'm like a duck out of water. Please Help! :))

I have an Intel ProSet Internal Wireless card installed on my Gateway CX2610 Tablet.
