Right... I had my copy of parallels about three months ago and as of yet have not been able to use it because my IT department are very worried about security implications of having an apparently insecure windows OS sitting on top of my Mac OS. IT have refused to give me a Windows 10 product key because of their fear of the windows side of the set up potentially being hacked.

So, my primary question is, is this a viable concern? Is this more secure than a standard windows PC because it's sitting on a mac? If so, why?

If I am not running parallels, is the security risk that windows apparently poses negated because windows is switched off?

    Thanks.

@ Matp Hi, if you use some safeguards (firewalls, antivirus software, and so forth) on Mac to protect a virtual machine from the network as you would for a physical machine, the virtual machine is as secure as the physical machine. Also, you may install any preferable antivirus software compatible with the version of Windows OS you are running in virtual machine which will protect from the viruses and malwares.
