XP Freezes at Start Up

Greetings.

When I tried to start up XP on my parallels software, the blue "Microsoft Windows Start Up Screen" appeared - and nothing else. Below is what it looks like...

The little bars don't move from side to side. Nothing happens. And I didn't change anything.

Anybody know what to do?

Thanks!

Hello Nathan,

Please try to create a new vm based on the existing image file.
Creating New Virtual Machine:

1. Click on File > New Virtual Machine.
2. go with the online screen.
3. When you get a screen Virtual Memory type select Custom.
4. Go with the online screen.
5. When you get Hard Disk Option select Existing Image File.
6. Choose the HDD file and go with the online instruction.

Please refer to this link in this regard:

http://download.parallels.com/desktop/v4/docs/en/Parallels_Desktop_Users_Guide/

But make sure that you are creating a new virtual machine using the "Existing Image File".

Now, the hard-drive has disappeared.

I tried that - and whereas the XP set up was not working at all, now it sends me this ghastly message that it cannot connect to Hard Drive 1. I never had this problem until I tried the above steps. Now, I'm terribly confused.

Hello,

Did you upgrade Parallels or is it a fresh install.

Could you please go to Documents-> Parallels -> xp.pvm and then double click on it.

Tried to click it.

So, I did open up that file, and what happened was that it went back to telling me that my hard-drive is now absent. I'm not at all sure what could have caused this. Do you have any suggestions?
