XP (Home edition) Installation Problems

Am trying to install XP on my new 20" iMac by following the Quick Start Guide. Parallels has been installed and activated. Problem occurs when I'm told to insert XP disc and click the Power On button in Parallels. A dark screen drops down, the machine freezes up, and I'm told to restart my machine. When I do this, it boots in OS X and I'm back to ground zero. What am I doing wrong?

Not updating Parallels to build 1970 probably. The version in the box isn't compatible with the core 2 duo processor, which was introduced after Parallels shipped the boxed version.
