    Hello,

I have a client who has a Mac Parallels Desktop Windows XP installation. When the virtual machine is booted it can not find its hard drive. The error message is:

    640 KB Base Memory
    884736 KB Extended Memory
    Boot from hard drive...
A disk read error has occurred
    Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

I have the most recent version of Parrallels on his machine, version 3.0 build 5584. Mac OS X 10.5.2.

When I try to look at the disk image with Parallels Explorer it will see the image and files on it, but when I try to copy the most needed files (Quicken and some regular Word and Excel documents), it complains with the following error message from the Finder:

"The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "FILENAME" could not be read or written. (Eerror code -36)"

I've checked the Mac's hard drive with Disk Utility and have found not problems with the underlying ard drive. I'd really like to be able to recover his files at the very least, it's tax time. I'm wondering if Windows disk repair utilities might work on the disk image, or if there are other suggestions?

    Thank you for your help,
    Marshall
