Running Mac 10.5.7 on a Macbook Pro 2.4Ghz w/ 4GB Ram Parallels build:#5638 Just got a new computer and installed Parallels 3.0 build 5638. The program opens but if I try to start a virtual machine (from saved backups copied to the local drive) or install brand new machines (have tried iso and cd-rom) the same problem occurs. The program freezes and I have to log-out or reboot. Cannot force quit. Have tried uninstalling/reinstalling parallels but that didn't help. Wonder if anybody else has seen this and/or has a fix. Thanks!
Getting it to work correctly. Uninstall your version of Parallels after downloading 5638. Reboot machine. I ran Disk Utility > Disk permissions I rebooted (to be on the safe side) I installed Parallels 5638 I rebooted OS X.5.7 (again) - There was a boot cache message when rebooting this time I ran Parallels 5638 - it RAN. Everything else was set up as if it were the first time Parallels ever ran. I had to re-activate Windows. Now, everything seems to be back to normal. Oh yes, the only other thing I did differently with this attempt was not have any USB drives hooked up...
I think that's the key. I had an external HD connected when I installed Parallels the first time. This time I didn't and like you said, it worked like a charm. Thanks! Anne
