I resolved this issue myself but figured to post here in case other people run into the same problem. I was running VMWare Fusion 3.1 and just purchased PD 6.0. I used the conversion to convert my VMWare image to Parallels but then on start I received the blue screen of death (BSOD) with error code: 0x0000007B
My original VMWare disks was SCSI but now I don't think this mattered. To make a long story (with a lot of conversions) short, following is how I fixed it and got my VMWare converted.
1) Uninstall VMWare Tools within my VM. You can not uninstall it anymore when in PD thus do this first.
2) Do the conversion using Parallels instructions from my Fusion VM to a PD VM.
3) Open the settings for the new VM and change HD 1 (my boot drive) from SATA to IDE. This was the reason for the error code since the Windows partition does not have a SATA driver.
4) Boot VM now and install Parallels Tools
Now I have a working VM with IDE. Following steps are to make it as SATA instead. I'm sure this can be done also by other people now doing conversion from Fusion.
5) Shutdown the VM and add a SATA drive, 8GB or so is sufficient, this is just to install the drivers.
6) Boot the VM and this will install the SATA drivers.
7) Shutdown the VM, now remove the HD you just added and change the settings for the boot HD from IDE to SATA
8) Boot up and then it will ask for installing driver again.
And that's it. Problem solved.
