Parallels Desktop 2.5 to 7

I recently installed Snow Leopard OS on my MacBook Pro and found out that my Parallels Desktop 2.5 was incompatible with Snow Leopard. It looks like I need to purchase a full copy of Parallels Desktop 7 and install it. My question is will this destroy everything I have in Excel/Word, etc. on the Windows side? What do I need to do to make this work properly?

Probably the answer is late, but Parallels 7 supports import of VMs from earlier versions of PD. While importing the PD2.5 VM PD should suggest to made a backup of VM, it is recommended to accept it.
