Parallels Desktop 9: Issue with Stardock Start8 and Stardock ModernMix

Hi all,

Today I upgraded Parallels Desktop from version 8.0.18608 revision 898384 to version 9.0.23036 revision 915397. After starting my Windows 8 Pro VM the Parallels Tools were upgraded and I restarted the VM.

Now every time I suspend and resume the VM I get logged out automatically. After the next login the following services are set to manual start: Stardock Start8 and Stardock ModernMix. Both tools are installed with their current version: Start8 version 1.20 and ModernMix version 1.10.

When not upgrading the Parallels Tools to the current version this issue does not occur.

I'd appreciate if someone of the Parallels Desktop team could have a look at this issue.

Update: Issue solved. I had to enable View --> Use Windows 7 Look.

 

Seems like Parallels needs to step up and be more open with their customers about what they are doing. I only found out that Parallels now bundles Stardock as part of the package by accident. There should be some kind of announcement when you upgrade to version 9 and/or when you install Windows 8 for the first time. It's also extremely opaque how you activate Stardock and I couldn't find any instructions.
