PRL_CC.Exe is hanging up Windows 7

Hey everyone,

I've been digging deep to try and find the answer as to why for the following:

Running a 2013 iMac with Maverick OS and Parallels 9 installed for a Windows 7 VM. When I shut down, I have to force quit a process called PRL_CC.exe in order to close out of the VM. If someone has a link to provide for the most recent fix, I'd be very happy!

navychief, out.

Same Problem - Any ideas?

I Got the same problem. I also have the updated version of Parallels 9 on Mavericks OS

I have this same problem also. Problem started when I installed the latest Parallels update. Looks like will just have to wait for a fix from Parallels.

I will say that it's related to running sharing between Mac and Windows. Some discussions speak of "locked files," but I'm not exactly sure what their referring too in those particulars.

I am also getting this same problem - have tried everything I can find - no luck. Delete and reinstall Parallels???

Nothing can be done...for now

MarianaC,

Don't do that. I contacted Parallels and they're aware of the problem. I'd say it will not be fixed until a future update. Here's the quote I got the other day from Parallels support:

prl_cc.exe forced to quit on windows 7 shutdown:

"We appreciate the information you shared with us, rest assured that we are full aware of the issue that you encountered. Our Development team is constantly releasing an update that addresses several issues based on these reports."

We do understand that the issue itself is not resolved; however it will now being tracked in the separate internal request by our Development team. Since it is not possible to track status of internal requests here and support team does not provide any updates on such requests, this support ticket will be marked as Pending Confirmation by Customer.

Thanks so much - won't waste a ton more of my evening trying to make this work. Funny thing though - this has only happened on my iMac - same version of Parallels and windows on my macbook air and no problem or on my husband's macbook pro.

Are your other Macs running Maverick? What year is your iMac?

Yes all running Maverick - macbook air is some time 2011 and macbookPro is late 2008 - iMac is late 2012 and only one having this problem - all have latest Paralells 9 update on them. Just double-checked the macbook air as we are leaving for a trip on Tuesday and this is what I travel with - opened windows - updated my Quicken file from Dropbox backup - did some work - saved file - shut down windows - no problems!

navychief, if the issue is 100% reproducible, could you provide us with a dump file of prl_cc.exe process? This will help us to investigate.
To create the dump (before you are going to shutdown) open Task Manager, go to the Processes tab, find prl_cc.exe there, right-click->Create Dump File. Then zip the file and attach to this thread. Thank you.

Also please generate a problem report:
Initiate shutdown, then while prl_cc is hanging, select from VM menu (if in Window mode) Help->Report a Problem, or from II menu (if in Coherence mode) Alt+Click->Report a Problem. Then post the report number here.

I have the same problem. It happens only when I shutdown in Coherence mode. If I shutdown in Window mode, it works ok. :(

BTW, the prl_cc.DMP is 104Mb. How can I attach it here?

Same problem. I'm running Mavericks on a mid 2012 Macbook Pro Retina. I usually use Coherence; haven't tried exiting Coherence mode before shutting down.
